Know the details
Fill out the audition form and sign up for a specific 15-minute audition slot. Auditions are held:
August 14, 4–5 PM (Provo)
August 15, 10 AM–12 PM (Alpine)
August 17, 5–6 PM (Provo)
Prepare two contrasting songs
Be ready to sing about 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds) of two contrasting musical theatre songs. Good examples include songs from The Scarlet Pimpernel, A Tale of Two Cities, Les Misérables, or similar shows.
Learn the dance audition beforehand
A choreography video will be provided before auditions. Review and learn the combination ahead of time, as you'll perform it in groups of four during your audition.
Bring your music ready
Bring a Bluetooth speaker or device with your accompaniment tracks queued up and ready to play.
Show strong storytelling
The Hunchback of Notre Dame features dramatic characters, emotional depth, and powerful storytelling. Focus on clear acting choices and expressive performance.
Highlight your strengths
The production includes acting roles, a Vocal Ensemble, and a Dance Ensemble. Showcase your strongest skills while remaining open to multiple opportunities.
Be ready to sing and move
Directors are looking for performers with a variety of talents. Wear clothing and shoes that allow you to move comfortably during the dance portion.
Practice confidence and preparation
Know exactly how you'll begin and end each song. Strong preparation helps create a polished audition.
Be available for callbacks (August 19)
Callbacks will be held from 7–9 PM in Provo. Dancers called back will learn a new dance combination, but should also review the original audition choreography.
Consider a video audition if needed
If you cannot attend in person, submit a video audition by email to Luke.Garrett@dogoodtheater.org with the subject line "[Your Name] Hunchback Audition."
Be honest about conflicts
Carefully list all schedule conflicts on your audition form so the production team can plan accordingly.
Review the commitment
Rehearsals begin August 21 and are held:
Wednesdays: 7–9 PM
Fridays: 6–8 PM
Saturdays: 9 AM–12 PM
All rehearsals take place at Radiant Dance Studio in the Provo Towne Center Mall.
Plan for tech week and performances
Tech rehearsals run October 16–21, and performances are October 22–26.
Understand the program fee
Participation costs $294 total, paid in three installments of $98.
Invite friends and earn tuition credit
Returning DoGood Theatre members can earn $50 tuition credit per new participant referred (up to full tuition), provided the referred student auditions, is cast, registers, and lists your name during registration.
Have a great attitude
Be positive, respectful, and ready to learn. Directors notice performers who are enthusiastic, prepared, and supportive of others.
